Fey
Basic Information
They fey come from all over, and are as varied as they can be and I cannot possibly speak of them all. The main fey in this game are the Sidhe. They are a warrior people, and the great majority of them are good, if not brilliant fighters. They can preform magic and often wield a hand, or two of power. This varies from Sidhe to Sidhe, though.
There are two main courts, the Seelie and the Unseelie. The Seelie are known as the golden court, and to the eye look
innocent, pure, joyful, kind. The Unseelie are dreaded by the Seelie and are not so afraid to show themselves for
what they are. There are also the Slaugh, which are actually a court of their own, but they are closely tied to the
Unseelie. The fey, Sidhe in particular are often lesser Gods and Goddesses, so many are arrogant and/or over
confident, but they earned it. They live in mounds that are filled with magic, only fey can open the doors to these mounds. There are whole underground worlds, moons, stars, forests, fields and lifestock and other animals under the mounds along with all the buildings the fey reside in.
Appearance
They can vary a lot, and because the fey are capable of breeding with a great variety of creatures easily, the ones with mixed blood may vary from general Sidhe looks. Generally speaking they are tall and willowy, often with long hair, even on the men. It is a great shame to be forced to cut your hair. Their skin and hair can be any colour, ranging from true black to white, to violet, to white golds and silvers. Both skin and hair can naturally have patterns, tattoos, images and many other strange things.
Sidhe eyes are almost always at least three colours, but can be many more, some Sidhe eyes glow, as their skin glows when they are using power.
Culture
Culturally the Sidhe are very much a fighting people, they have duels, are no stranger to battle and all of them just about have battle training. The Unseelie, more so than the Seelie embrace this. The Seelie try to be the fairytale creatures that people don't find fearsome, but they are perhaps more deceptive than the Unseelie. The fey do not lie, for to be fore sworn is certain death, however they are prone to omitting a lot and twisting the truth enough to make people think the moon is swiss cheese.
The fey are very accepting, depending on the court this level varies, but generally speaking they are. Public nudity is common, sex is not taboo at all and most, even when married are polygamous, if everyone agrees. They are also not exceedingly bothered by sharing each other. When they're nervous or upset they like touching each other, not necessarily sexually, just skin on skin. They also often sleep in groups, for comfort. They are a very proud people.
Children are very rare, and thus treasured. Most people are thousands of years old and stuck a century or two back. Though the Sidhe cannot die, short of a proper duel with mortal blood (because they share blood, making the Sidhe temporarily vulnerable) they can heal almost any wound. They can fade if they want too, and the process cannot often be fixed if it is started, it will kill them. Cold iron makes them heal human slow, and sometimes, depending on the sidhe, they can die if people stop believing in them or what they represent.
Unseelie
The Unseelie court takes in almost anyone, it has many houses lead by lords and ladies. It is currently ruled by Queen Morrigan. The Unseelie court is host to many guards, the guards are responsible for the Queen and her Consorts. They are held in high esteem, and most are nobles.
It is common for the Unseelie to torture as method of interrogation, they also have no qualms over kidnapping or murder if they think it appropriate. The Unseelie Ruler has power to call upon the Sluagh to hunt those they seek. The Unseelie are feared by the Seelie, and it is thought being taken into the Unseelie court is an unforgivable sin.
Seelie
The Seelie try to live up to mortal expectations of a light, shining, glittering group of creatures. Punishments are more quiet and clean. They keep a very beautiful mask, hiding all the darker side of what they are. Consequently people are less afraid of them, but they are just as devious and nasty as the Unseelie, perhaps worse.
The Seelie have Royal guards, who also, like the Unseelie are mostly nobles. but they do not enjoy the job as much as their darker reflections do. People in the Seelie court are more covert, modest, more distinctly Victorian.
Sluagh
The Sluagh are a people unto themselves, but they serve the Unseelie court also. They are not Sidhe. They are night hags, strange creatures without names, things with more tentacles than imaginable, flying nightmares. They can make mortals go mad at the mere sight of them and are almost impossible to defeat. The King or Queen of the Sluagh commands them, but almost always has allegiance to the Unseelie ruler. They have no threat, they merely are terror, and are only sent after people who have done horrible things or landed on the wrong side of the Unseelie rulers favour. They are the last big fey wild hunt. Thus there are hell hounds, Phookas and all sorts.
Abilities
As with most everything, a feys abilities vary, and for example, a war Sidhe, such as Macha isn't able to heal, but a healer isn't able to cause death with a touch. So the fey's powers vary depending on what their power level is and what sort of fey they are, like elemental (water, air, earth, fire, spirit) war, healer, agricultural, etc.
All fey are super strong naturally. They heal exceedingly well and can regrow body parts. They can all summon Willow the wisps to use as lights (small, glowing balls of light, not the actual fey creature, a willow the wisp.) The colour depends on the fey summing it, they aren't hot to the touch and can easily be controlled.
All their senses are increased, making them often very aware of the things, and magic around them. Some can shape shift into animals, but not a lot. Some have wings and can fly, but they are half breeds usually, not full Sidhe. They can also use glamour to change how things, including themselves, appear and to roll minds. The Sidhe rulers can infludence how their mounds (Sith) and people grow and change with their words, so they ought to be careful. The health of the ruler is the health of the land and people, literally.
Sidhe get two hands of power, one for each hand, when they come of age. One is normally usable by distance, and one by touch. They must be bloodied in battle after gaining them or risk loosing them.
